Mōrena Whānau,

My first pānui for 2019 and the year has got off to a flying start already! It is so great to see everyone back in the new school year and let’s hope this gorgeous weather hangs around for a while longer.

We are looking at starting Walking Wednesday up again this year, but we are mindful that many of our teachers are busy at that time of the morning getting things sorted for their day. If you are already walking to school with your child or would love to help us out, please get in touch. It is a great initiative that we want to have continue over the year.

The lovely Steph is entering her last week with us here at RSS before taking her maternity leave at the end of the week. We wish her and Marc all the best for the upcoming addition to their family. This year, Steph has been sorting out many things around the school, including all of the upcoming Summer Sports teams. Registrations closed on Friday for Summer Hockey and teams will be finalised this week.

We have had some complaints from our local residents along Russell Street and Rongopai Street this week. They expressed their concerns about cars blocking their driveways or making it dangerous for them to leave their houses in the afternoons. If we could just be mindful of this during pickup and drop off, that would be appreciated.

It has been great to have our swimming pool open this week and seeing our learners get to cool off and do some learning outside the classroom. We still have a few pool keys available to hire over the Summer. They cost $50 with a refundable $15 from the office. Don’t miss out!

We are in the process of organising the Russell Street School 90th Jubilee. At this stage we have a date – Saturday March 23rd from 3pm-7pm. This will be an afternoon of fun and memories for our RSS community; past present and future. All welcome so spread the word. More details to come.
