Kia ora whānau,
What a fantastic start to the year we are having. Everyone is settling in beautifully and I am excited for this week.
We have had some chats about sharing our special at home toys. As a school we encourage children to leave their at home toys at home as we cannot keep them safe at school. Whakawhanaungatanga is one of our school values and this is all about making connections with each other. As a class, we decided that sharing some of our special at home toys would help us to find out about each other and make connections. We decided Mondays will be the day. We will bring 1 special thing (or story to share) on Monday and put it in the green box to stay safe. Then just before lunch we will have a sharing circle and tell our stories.
Reminders for week 3:
School hats – Terms 1 and 4 are our hat wearing terms. Please make sure your child has a hat to wear each day. We hang these inside the class on the wee clothesline. If you do not have a hat these are available to purchase for $15 from the office.
Swimming – Our swimming days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. We swim after lunch 1:30pm-2.15pm, so it is a lovely chance to cool down and grow our water confidence and swimming skills.
Library – Tuesday afternoon (after swimming) is our library time. This is a very exciting time and the children love to explore the library and pick new books. Please make sure your child’s library books are in their reading folders so they can exchange them and get their new ones.
Brainfood – Each day in the morning we have a small and healthy snack to help us switch on our brains and help us learn. It’s best if this snack is kept in a small named container. Fruit, vegetables, nuts, plain popcorn and water are the types of things we eat for brainfood.
LEOTC – please check out the forms section on School Stream and make sure you have filled in the Learning Outside the Classroom form. It only takes about 30 seconds! If you need any help please just pop in.
