Ata mārie Pounamu whānau,

Hope you’ve all had a good weekend so far. Saturday’s sun was beautiful and much needed after a couple of cooler days last week. I’m not ready for Summer to end!

Te Kupu O Te Wiki: Mutunga Wiki – Weekend

This coming week is an interesting one so this pānui is a bit meaty. As you’ll see below, I’m only in class on Tuesday and Friday. Here’s why:

Week 7

Monday 9th March: SCHOOL IS CLOSED. Final Reminder that we have a Teacher Only Day tomorrow for professional development and therefore alternative arrangements need to be made for your children.

Tuesday 10th March: Normal day – Lucy teaching (it’s our library day so encourage your kids to bring their books back if they’d like to get new ones).

Wednesday 11th March: I’m out of the classroom today for some professional learning & planning for our Tokai whānau along with Kerri, Robin & Sandi. Demelza will be teaching in Pounamu today.

Thursday 12th March: I am out again today for more learning (this is going to be a massive week for me!) as I’m attending the Digital Technologies Kāhui Ako Network hui. We have 1-2 of these days per term where representatives from each of the schools in our network get together to learn and plan for the Digital Technologies curriculum. RSS is actually hosting the meeting this time, so I’ll be on-site but unavailable. The lovely Karen is teaching in Pounamu today.

Friday 13th March: Normal day – Lucy teaching

Phew! It’s going to be a bitsy week but our relievers are amazing – we are very lucky – so I know our tamariki will be just fine.

A few general reminders:

  • Hats are compulsory for this term (and Term 4). Lost hats usually return to us if well named.
  • Swimming is also compulsory. We are very fortunate to have a school pool and we don’t have access to it for very long. If it’s too cold to swim I will make that call. The pool is heated and the day is often quite warm by the time our afternoon session rolls around. Please continue to pack togs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
  • Have a read of Nick’s update about COVID-19/Coronavirus so that you have the latest info. It’s a helpful reminder about general best practice for minimising the spread of all germs (not just COVID-19). If your child is unwell please keep them home.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I’ll see you on Tuesday (not tomorrow!!),

We are setting ourselves some goals for Writing. They’re on a fold-out card at the back of our books so that we can remember what our goals are as we write.

Collecting acorns for Nick’s Trade deal on Friday :)
