Today I brought my overhead projector into school for our Junior Team Playtime. (Remember those? Who always wanted to run the OHP in their school assemblies? I seem to remember it being a coveted job!) Many of our students have never seen one and it was the object of much wonder! The children were entranced and spent a long time exploring light and colour and shadow. Their play sits within the science curriculum. They are exploring everyday examples of physical phenomena, such as light. They are seeing and describing simple patterns that they observe, experimenting with different materials and objects to see what happens. They are demonstrating curiosity, persistence, and cooperation. Play with shadows at home – it’s heaps of fun!
