Kia Ora Whānau,

Nice to get this out to you on a Sunny Friday afternoon so I can wish you all a beautiful weekend ahead too. Heaps going on in and around the school so heaps to chew through this arvo…

Learning Conferences bookings have opened this morning. They are on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th April. You can read more information here and go to schoolinterviews.co.nz and use the code cmzy9. Help us achieve our goal of 100% attendance! *A reminder that school will finish early at the time of 12.30pm on Tuesday 7th April.*

Today Kelly took our School Leaders to Ross Intermediate to interview Wayne the principal about some potential school events that they would love to run at RSS. This was a great opportunity for them to practise their leadership and organisation skills. Their next course of action is attending the GRIP Leadership Course on Thursday 26th March, this will no doubt be a great experience for these guys.

On Tuesday we had the Ranginui Swimming Sports down at the Lido Aquatic Centre. It was a fantastic event which ran really well. Here are the Swimming Sport Results 2020. We will have the Prizegiving for this on Monday 23rd March at 9am in the hall. All welcome to attend. The Northern Cluster Swimming Competition is on Wednesday 8th April at Freyberg Pools, so we will look to select a team of Year 5/6 swimmers to compete at this event. More information to follow.

Huge congrats to Lewis, Jimi, Riley, Ryder, Lennox and James who competed in the Interschool Triathlon on Wednesday. These boys were just awesome! They encouraged each other during the race and then congratulated each other after, what great sportsmanship! They sure showed plenty of wairua too. Lewis came 4th and Jimi 5th in the Year 5 boys race.

Reminders that the Weetbix Tryathlon is on Wednesday 18th March too if you haven’t already registered. The early bird pricing is still available for 2 more days, so click to register here.

This coming Thursday, Kelly and Nicole have organised a ECE Open Day where 6 different centres around Palmerston North are bringing some of their kids and teachers to hang out at school with us for the morning. This continues to build on the strong whakawhanaungatanga that is already happening in this space.

The Netball 3/4 competition is down to start on Thursday 26th March ands we still need more players to complete the team. Boys or girls can play and you can find more information here.

I know the weather has been so beautiful lately, but it is starting to get a bit cooler so why not order a RSS Hoodie. Sharon just informed me that we don’t have many orders in currently, so it would be great to see a few more in to make the run worthwhile. This will have to be put in by Friday 3rd April. Ordering information is here. Be cool like these two and grab yours today…

Last week, Nick, John, Mel and myself went to the Mindplus information session. Mindplus runs a One Day School programme and they are looking to come back to Palmerston North hopefully in Term 2 if there is enough interest. It will be run out of WhatBox on Worcester Street. We will pass on the information to you it becomes available.

A reminder that the Supporters Club Meeting is on 7.30pm this Tuesday 17th March in the staffroom. All are welcome.

Take care everyone and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.

Troy

PS Thanks to those of you who have reached out to see if I’m ok regarding the recent news that the NBA season is being temporarily suspended because of Covid-19. Lucky I have 19 games that I haven’t watched on the SkyBox… #ballislife
