Kia ora koutou,
Welcome back to school and the start of another busy term ahead! Please find below some information from the leadership team to get you up to speed for the term ahead.
With our trial of Play First, Eat Second the importance of brainfood has increased as the time between eating breakfast and morning tea will increase. As such we recommend that all learners bring along appropriate brainfood which includes:
- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Dried fruit (eg apricots, prunes, raisins and sultanas)
- Shelled unsalted nuts or seeds
To support our learners can you please continue to ensure that they have eaten a healthy breakfast, provide them with an appropriate amount of healthy brain food in a separate container (younger children may also need fruit or veggies peeled and sliced) and ensure children have a bottle of water for use in the classroom.
How brainfood works in each class looks different but it tends to happen around 10am each morning. If you want to find out how it works for your children in their class, just pop on in and have a talk to their teacher.
Thank you to all of the parents who have completed the Digital Citizenship Student/Parent Agreement. This agreement replaces the previous CyberSafety agreement you would have completed on enrolment.
All students are required to have a completed agreement in order to fully engage with elearning devices and online learning tools. If you have not already done so, can you please jump into the form linked above and complete it with your child/ren.
Absences (2 weeks +)
Just a friendly reminder that if your child is going to be away from school for a period greater than 2 weeks in duration, we ask that you formally contact the Principal to communicate the reason for the absence. This can be done easily by sending a quick email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We invited you all to complete a short survey related to school assemblies and would like to thank all of you who contributed your thoughts. As an outcome of this process we are trialling a new schedule for assemblies including how often, the time and what days these take place. As such, assemblies in Term 2 will take place every 3 weeks, on a Wednesday, from 1:45-2:15pm. The first one will take place on Wednesday May 16. The full 3 week cycle includes whole school signing, house singing and assemblies.
Teacher Only Day
There will not be a teacher only day attached to Queen’s Birthday weekend this year. Instead we will be having a teacher only day on Tuesday October 23 (Labour weekend).
Thank you for your cooperation in all of these matters! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch with one of the leadership team who will be more than happy to have a chat.
Ngā mihi nui,
Nick, Mel, Troy, Rosie, Nic & Kelly
