Kia Ora Whānau,

Hoping you have enjoyed the long weekend and the weather has been kind in Palmy. Dallas and I came up to Auckland for it and we had beaut weather here! How about those AB’s? Bit stink, but we clearly weren’t the best team on the day. After so many years of Rugby dominance, now the rest of the world has caught up and we should be proud of keeping that benchmark so high for so long. #onlyfouryears

Staffing For 2020:
Ebony has chosen to work part time next year and will be taking over Mel’s teaching load in a co-teaching role with Bianca. This is really neat for Ebony as she will be able to have more time being a mum to her daughters Kenzie and Evie. This has meant that we had a teaching position available, so Belinda will be taking this job for next year and we are delighted to retain her as a valued member of staff. Brenda and Samantha will both be rejoining the team next year after their maternity leave with Gordon and Jaida. Exciting times!

Poutokomanwa for 2020:
Notes went home and a School Stream post was sent out about possible placement for Poutokomanawa for 2020 last week. We have a few spaces still available in Te Whāriki (Year 1/2). Express your interest here if you haven’t already. Te Pakoko (Year 3/4) and Te Korowai (Year 5/6) are already full. This year we had to made the decision to give priority to our students and families who are already part of the Poutokomana Whānau and we will grow this space from the ground up next year.

Class Placement for 2020:
We are not too far away with finalising what 2020 could look like in the way of staff and child placements. As always, we give you guys a chance to give us your voice on what learning style best suits your child. A form will be sent out on School Stream in a few weeks time asking for this, so keep your eyes peeled.

Raffle for a Ride:
We are all pumped and ready for this famous day at Russell Street. We are on the lookout for some more hot rides… The bar was set pretty high last year with multiple Porsche’s, a Ferrari, a Tesla and heaps of other choice as cars turning up to school. The date is set for Friday 29th November. If you know someone who wants to show off their wheels, let us know as we would love to have them. Flick me an email: [email protected].

Kelly Sport/Athletics:
Our whole school has been enjoying the Athletics coaching from Nala and Kahu from Kelly Sport that we were successful in winning through Sport Manawatu funding. Our Athletics Day is locked in for Monday 18th November, so take a cheeky day off and come hang out with us up at the Massey Athletics Track and enjoy the action. A coffee cart will be onsite to help get us through.

Calendar Art:
Envelopes for ordering these went home last week and need to be into the office by Friday 8th November. Come into your child’s class or check out their Seesaw to see their amazing artwork. The ones I have seen already look fantastic and are a great Xmas Pressie for the Grandies, if your parents are anything like mine and hard to buy for. Available in Card packs, Diaries and Calendars, ranging from $10 -$15.

House Leader/Road Patroller Applications for 2020:
We are doing these slightly differently than we have done in the past and these are to now be all done online. Links went live last week through the School Stream. They can be found here for Road Patrollers and here for House Leaders. Please have a chat with your child and encourage them if they want to put themselves forward for one of these positions. We know we have many current Year 5’s who will make amazing leaders of our school next year.

RSS Hats:
The Labour Weekend threshold for compulsory hats for Term 4 has now passed so we will be implementing our ‘No Hat, No Play’ rule starting tomorrow. Please help your child be prepared for this and a gentle reminder that clearly labelling these helps a lot! As 349 hats that all look the same are awfully hard for us to help find their correct owner when they go missing or end up in the lost property.

School Production DVD’s
The order has been placed and is with Artisan Media now and they gave us an estimated 2 week turnaround on these. We will bing out a post when these arrive and send them home with your child. If you missed the cut off date, I may have slipped a few more orders through, so let the office know.

Lots going on in the early part of the term so far. Heaps of things to communicate with an always busy Term 4 well underway, so do keep yourself in the loop by checking School Stream regularly as it is our main form of communication to you guys. Have a great week everyone.

Ngā Mihi Mahana,

Troy
