Kia ora koutou!

Week 10, our last week of the term, is now upon us! Keeping reading so that you are in the know and up-to-date with all the important info you need to see out the end of the term. School finishes as usual on Friday @ 3pm.

Tree Planting – As you walk into school this week using the driveway entrance you will see a line of trees stretching up the driveway in the first instalment of our avenue planting. Thank you to all of our community members who turned out this afternoon to plant them all! If you are interested the trees are Prunus Campanulata Superba and will have beautiful pinky red blossom in the spring.

Farewell to Fiona – We are saying farewell to Fiona this week and you are more than welcome to join us on Tuesday afternoon for her farewell assembly @ 2:30pm.

Team Planning Days – This week on Wednesday the Ranginui (senior) team teachers are off-site taking a day to review the term and plan for Term 3. Papatūānuku (junior) will be doing the same on Thursday. Relievers will be in the classes for those days. This is an incredibly valuable day for teaching staff and enables them to focus on planning with minimal disruption, rather than trying to squeeze meetings in before or after school.

Teacher Shortage – While we are lucky to have enough relief teachers in our school on both Wednesday and Thursday, there is a genuine shortage of teachers in Palmerston North to cater for the day to day needs of relief teaching. Only last week there were 2 days where no relief teachers were available when we needed them. Thankfully we were able to cover this with some of our own staff. Please be aware however that this may not always be the case and classes may need to be split up and sent to other rooms if there are no relief teachers available.

Do you now anyone who is a trained teacher but not currently working? If so please encourage them to consider taking on some relief teaching – there will be heaps of work out there for them!

Reports – Written reports will be coming home on Thursday in a clearly marked envelop for all but the very newest of our learners. Keep an eye out for them in reading folders or lurking in the depths of your child’s bag.

Learning Conferences – Take place in the first week back next term. If you have not already done so, jump on to and use the code vyp8v to book your conference. Don’t forget, school closes early on Wednesday July 25 @ 12:30 so that conferences can take place. If you are not able to collect your children then, please email the school office to request supervision of your children until 3pm.

Contact and Medical Details – In the envelop containing your child’s report there will also be a print out of the current contact details and other information. Please return this to the office as soon as possible with any updates written directly onto the sheet.

Thanks everyone, have a great week 10!
