Kia ora Whānau ma,
I pēhea tō wiki mutunga? (How has your weekend been?) Hope it has been fab!
Thanks to those of you who came along to our Matariki Sharing Assembly on Friday. What an outstanding showcase of Visual Art and performances from our talented Kapa Haka roopu (group). Our yearly kaupapa (topic) of embracing Whakawhanaungatanga (positive relationships) was well and truly on point!
The Ministry of Education has launched a public consultation survey asking what’s working well, what’s not working, what would you change and how in all schools across New Zealand. You are welcomed to take an online survey to share your thoughts and opinions on these matters. It is not often that we have a full review of the way schools are governed, so you have until August 6th to have your say.
Our Learning Conferences are Week One of Term 3 (25th/26th July). These have traditionally been at the end of Term 2, but we have decided to move these to next term. Just a reminder that school will close early on Wednesday 25th July at 12.30pm. More information will come out around booking your conferences next week.
Just so you know, other primary schools around town may be closing early on Thursday 28th June for the NZEI paid union meeting that is happening. But RSS will be staying open for business, as those non union members have kindly offered to help hold down the fort. #wegotyou
On Sunday 1st July we are having a Tree Planting Day from 1pm-3pm. We’ve got a bunch of ‘grissies’ and some cherry blossoms to get into the ground, so we would be extremely grateful if you could help dig a few holes. If you feel like skipping the gym that day and are free to help us out, email [email protected] I can provide cold refreshments and some of my Nan’s Scones if that might entice you to help. BYO Spade please.
Next Tuesday the 3rd July at 2.30pm we will be having a farewell assembly for Fiona. We will ensure a great send off for her as she embarks on the next chapter of her life in Saudi Arabia. All are welcome to come and say their goodbye’s to Fi, I know she will really appreciate the aroha!
