Re: Possible Cases of Impetigo (School Sores)

Thursday 21 March 2019

Dear whānau o Poutokomanawa,

We’ve had a confirmed report of school sores in Poutokomanawa, which are being treated. There may be a small number of other children who have blisters or cuts, that may also be infected. It is of course, highly contagious.

We are asking that parents carry out a check themselves and seek medical

diagnosis and treatment if required. Generally speaking, children should not be at school until treatment is having an impact. It is recommended that children avoid close contact with others, and stay away from school until crusts have dried out.

Thank you for your attention to this.

Kind regards,
