Kia ora koutou,

Wow, we are heading straight for the end of the year at a rapid rate! At the end of this week, there are only 3 more weeks of school until the summer break – and there is a lot to pack into those 3 weeks!

One massive highlight is graduation, which all Year 6 parents will have received a notice about yesterday. Thank you in advance for completing the slip attached and returning it to school with your child. I really appreciate it as we are in the midst of planning for it. Please not the change of location this year to Freyberg High School.

Also for Year 6s, we require a digital copy of a 5-year-old photo of your child (this could be their first day of school or any other photo near to this time). This will go on the slide as they cross the stage along with a current photo, showing their journey over the last 6 years! If you could please email these to me, that would be awesome.

This coming week, both Year 5s and Year 6s will be crafting their speeches for graduation. The Year 6 speech will be about their journey here at RSS, and the Year 5 speech will be focused around wishing the Year 6s luck for their future as they head to intermediate. All speeches will be shared with either a buddy, the class, or if they would like to be considered for the graduation speech (two Year 6s and one Year 5 from the school), then they will deliver their speech to the staff one morning tea in week 8. You may like to help your child begin thinking about what they might like to include in their speech and support them with generating ideas.

Lastly, next Tuesday the 27th is Jean’s Day! This is to celebrate Jean’s 95th birthday. On this day, we ask that all Year 5 and 6 students come to school dressed in their best gears (and of course, some jean/denim!), as we will be taking their photos for reports and graduation.

What an exciting and busy time it is!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to be in touch.

Kind regards,
