Ahiahi mārie Atawhai whānau,
What a stunner of a day we’re having! Hope you’re all out with your family & friends soaking up some rays.
Te Kupu O Te Wiki – Putaiao – Science. Come into Atawhai and see if you can spot this word on our wall 🙂
Things you need to know for Wiki 6:
- Marae Trip THIS THURSDAY, 7th MARCH – Our trip is this week! Yay! Please ensure your kids have a hearty lunch packed and plenty of water. Book bags can stay at home as we will be out all day. If your child usually gets travel sick I’d love a heads up via email or in person so we can make sure those kiddies get front row seats on the pahi (bus).
- Swimming – We are yet to confirm when the pool will close – with this fine weather we’re being treated to we’re keen to keep it open as long as possible. At this stage we are still swimming on Monday, Thursday, and Friday each week for at least 2 more weeks. You will be invited to a ‘showcase’ day (date to be confirmed!) where the kids will have the chance to show you some of the learning they have been doing in our lessons. We are so lucky to have a pool at our school (and it’s heated!) so please continue packing togs so your tamariki can participate.
- Hoodie Orders – If you’re keen to get an RSS Hoodie, orders open this Wednesday. Keep an eye on SchoolStream for more details on how and where you can order.
That’s all from me! Hopefully we have another chrysalis by Monday – if not, it won’t be far away. Our ‘small’ caterpillar has now become a big, fat, hungry one just like it’s mate & it should turn any day now. Our first chrysalis lives by our TV, come and check it out if you haven’t seen it yet. We’ve probably got about another week before that one will come out as a Monarch. The kids are doing a wonderful job of being kaitiaki (guardians) of our caterpillars & it’s provoking lots of interesting wonderings & discussions!
Enjoy the rest of this ataahua (beautiful) day,
Art inspired by our plants during Papatūānuku Play on Monday
Putaiao – Science. Come and see our little Science corner!
Mila leading our waiata on Friday. We take turns being the leader.
Having fun during ‘free play’ time at the end of our swimming session on Friday. It was a beautifully hot afternoon – we’re so lucky that our swimming sessions are in the afternoon when the day is at it’s best!
