SCHOOL CLOSING AT 12.30PM ON TUESDAY, 9TH APRIL

Mōrena Atawhai whānau,

It’s Wiki 11 already – the last week of Term 1! I hope the end of daylight savings hasn’t disrupted your kids too much – I think going back an hour is easier than going forward! Sadly it’s brought with it some cooler weather and Autumn is definitely in full swing now.

Te Kupu O Te Wiki: Makariri – Cold, e.g. The air is a bit makariri this morning!

Pānui for Week 11:

  • School is Closing at 12.30pm on Tuesday 9th April – School is finishing early on Tuesday to allow for Learning Conferences. A reminder to make alternative arrangements for your kids.
  • Swimming – Swimming is finished for the season now. We have been SO lucky to have the pool open many more weeks than it usually is! Thank you for continuing to send your children with togs for this extended period – afternoon swims have been a highlight of our term. If you purchased a pool key, return those as soon as you can so your bond refund can be processed.
  • Reading Tracking Sheets – I sent these home on Friday so our tamariki can earn pizza vouchers for their reading as part of the Pizza Reading Challenge. It may pay to have a hunt in the depths of your child’s book bag to track it down! These forms can stay at home until your child has done 7 nights of reading. When it is full they can bring it back to school (complete with a parent/caregiver signature for each night) and during their usual reading group lessons I’ll trade it for a new tracking sheet, and pizza voucher.
  • Lost Property – As it’s the end of the term on Friday, I just wanted to remind everyone to have a good look through our Lost Property which is located by the library entrance. Any unclaimed items will be donated so it pays to have a double check.
  • Learning Conferences – These are being held on Tuesday and Wednesday of this coming week. I am very much looking forward to meeting with you all to celebrate your child’s learning this term, and to look ahead to Term 2. The tamariki are getting excited to share their learning with you during their conferences!

That’s all from me today. Enjoy your Sunday and the extra hour it’s brought with it!

Mauri tau,

Nā Lucy

Inspired by the pukapuka (book) my Canadian whānau gave us, we’ve created our own Aurora skies. Come in and check them out!
