Kia ora whānau,

We had a fun week in Pīwakawaka with many highlights including Papatūānuku Play on Monday, singing with Whaea Metarina, a library session with Rebecca, and supporting our tuakana at the Douglas Park Sports Exchange on Wednesday. We also had a spontaneous game of ‘Duck, Duck, Goose!’ with another class at the playground which was super fun!

There was also a minor (major) playdough DISASTER which unexpectedly created a wonderful sensory experience for many tamariki! I tried a new recipe this week and it seemed okay at first before very quickly becoming incredibly not okay! We explored science a little bit as we sprinkled flour on the tēpu (table) to help get it off our hands, the table, the carpet, our makawe (hair)…eeek! It ended up being a meaningful learning opportunity and it provided inspiration for some awesome stories at writing time!

Heads up:

  • Anna is in on Monday this week instead of Wednesday.
  • We have Assembly on Wednesday at 2.20pm. We’d love for you to join us if you are able to, as we are performing a waiata in front of the school.
  • School is closed on Wednesday, August 15th due to the Teacher Strike. Click here for more information about this.

Te Kupu O Te Wiki

Kei te pēhea koe? How are you?

You will hear this phrase a lot around RSS! Feel free to try it out on any staff or students!

Hope our Rippa kids had fun this morning! Enjoy your evening & the few photos I have attached. I’m off to practise my playdough making…

Kia pai tō pō – Have a good night,

Lucy 🙂

P.S. I’m too nervous to watch the Warriors! Hoping they can hang on to bring home the win with less than half an hour to go.
