Kia ora Pīwakawaka whānau,

What a busy start to Term 2 it has been. We’ve only been back for three days but have achieved so much! I just have a couple of notices to share with you all.

Our beautiful staff member, Anna Morris, will be teaching in Pīwakawaka every Wednesday for the rest of the year. This is my classroom release day, so I am at school but not in Room 3 for the majority of the day. We are very fortunate to have Anna join our class – she is an amazing and experienced teacher who the kids love already!

Cross Country is in Week 5 and we are training for this twice every week on Monday and Wednesday. It would be great if you could support your children to wear/bring appropriate shoes on these days. I am very proud of our children – we are going to rock the real thing!

The Pizza Reading challenge is in full swing – simply record the reading your child is doing in their yellow logs. After 7 days of reading have been recorded, I will sign a voucher for a free pizza and send it home. This includes stories children read in addition to books sent home as part of our reading programme  – all reading is valuable!

We have our first visit to Willard Home tomorrow which we are looking forward to. We are lucky to have fantastic student leaders at our school who will accompany us. As a class we are looking forward to establishing some relationships with the people there, and sharing stories and songs.

Finally, please click this link to read our Papatūānuku Team Newsletter for Term 2 to stay up-to-date with everything happening this term.

Looking forward to continuing on with our awesome first week back!

Hei āpōpō – See you tomorrow,

Lucy
