Kia ora koutou,
Wow, what an incredible day we had at cross country today! It was fantastic to see so many of you down there supporting your child/children as they raced their way around the course. I was so impressed with the attitude and effort of all involved and the cheering on of others. I am sure there will be lots of tired children at home this afternoon!
I wanted to also touch base with you all as I am sure you have been seeing your child’s wearable art design popping up on Seesaw. A bit about this project:
- We are responding to the invitation to be involved in the S+art Art competition, which is running in parallel to the Manawatū Science Fair.
- The theme for our art is Sustainable Seas and the art needs to tell a story.
- To align with our learning around plastic and rubbish pollution in our oceans, we are creating our designs through recycled and up-cycled materials.
- Students are working in groups of 4 or more and currently collaborating on a final design. They are in charge of where their design goes, how they want to reflect the theme and how they will source their materials.
I am really wanting all resources to come from recycling or up-cycling. Please be in touch with me should your child ask you to go out and buy things fo this project – this is not my intension! An important part of this project is their understanding of recycling and up-cycling materials.
There will no doubt be a message soon with a request to save milk bottles, milk bottle caps etc. Watch this space!
Please be in touch with me should you have any questions.
