Some important end of term notices from the leadership team before we break up for the holidays. There a a few of them, so please read on right to the end! Thanks!
On behalf of the staff, we trust everyone has a safe and happy break with everyone coming back rested and ready to continue their learning journey. If you are going away, travel safely. See you next term!
Board of Trustees Update
The Board is pleased to inform you that Luke Jurgens has been coopted onto the Board through until next year’s elections. Luke is a valued member of our school community and is an active supporter of the school through his involvement in school events and sports teams. Welcome onboard Luke, we look forward to your ongoing contributions as a trustee!
Over the holiday break the staffroom, meeting room and office foyer are having a fresh coat of paint completed as part of the board’s internal painting maintenance plan. Keep an eye out for a nice clean look next term. The major building project of upgrading the outside toilets and room 6 & 7 is also drawing a lot closer with the work about to go out to tender. These building projects have been a long time coming so it is great to see them moving forward now.
Douglas Park Tararua Challenge
This is a shout out to all parents and whānau of our Year 5 & 6 learners. We require as many hands on deck to help out with the annual Douglas Park Tararua Challenge. This year we are the hosts and require as many of you as possible to help over the lunch break as we cater lunch for the parents, teachers and students. Can you help out on Wednesday August 1? Many of you will be there watching and it would be just great if you could lend a hand too. Please let Nic, Rosie, Troy or Nick or any of the Supporter’s Club team know if that sounds like you.
Reports & Learning Conferences
Your child’s report is coming home today. Inside is a guide to understanding the report and Troy has also created a video to explain it. So if you would prefer hear the soothing tones of Troy rather than read the guide, jump onto our school website a have a look at his screencast. If you haven’t already done so, book your learning conference for next term too. http://schoolinterviews.co.nz code: vyp8v
Don’t forget: School will finish @ 12:30pm on Wednesday 25th July for conferences to start at 1:15pm.
Please complete the form below if you do not wish to sell any chocolates as part of next term’s Supporter’s Club fundraiser (if you are happy to sell chocolates, you do not need to do anything!).
Games and Play Equipment
Papatūānuku (our awesome junior team) are putting out another request out for any unwanted games and play equipment that you may have at home but are no longer used by your children. If you are not sure if it would be useful, have a chat with your child’s classroom teacher to find out. Thanks!
Teacher and Principal Stop Work Meeting (Strike)
On August 15, members of the primary teachers’ and principals’ union, NZEI, have agreed to take strike action as part of their claims negotiation. More information will come to you regarding this as it will impact when the school will be open for instruction.
Just a quick reminder that we need to account for every child enrolled at our school on a daily basis. Please phone the office and leave a message or use the form on this app to let us know if your child is away for any reason. Thank you for your cooperation!
